Peter came to Buffalo after living and painting in Seville, Spain for ten years. Born in Denver Colorado, he is a graduate of Colorado College with a degree in economics. Peter began painting while working in Boston at a computer-consulting firm in 1985. In Boston he was fortunate to take a painting course at the Museum School taught by Jon Imber.

Peter Fowler (pictured) told me he was opening a new gallery space over a year ago. Because his "old" space on Allen Street was so unusual and appealing—a loft space with large windows and details that only two artists building their own space could put together, and art everywhere—I looked forward to the new gallery opening.

Molten Silver
Peter Fowler recently inaugurated his "one lonely raptor" show at the Gallery. This show features new large works of poured aluminum paint over Peter's signature figures. The result has given a dynamic dimension to these iconic figures that change constantly with the light source. One piece, "mercury" is a painting of extreme texture, deep brush grooves that glows with silver light. The effect is of a pool of mercury agitated. The show will be up through June 10, 2007 and will be available for viewing by appointment after closing date.
